At Fenton Barns Nursery, our Baby Room has been carefully designed to be a warm, secure and stimulating environment for our youngest children. We understand that the first two years of life are a time of rapid growth and development, and our experienced practitioners provide the highest quality care and learning opportunities during this special stage.
Our Baby Room is calm and welcoming, with cosy areas for rest and comfort as well as spaces that encourage movement, play and exploration. Each child’s individual routines for feeding, sleeping and play are respected and followed, ensuring a smooth transition between home and nursery life.
We believe that babies benefit enormously from time spent outdoors. Every day our youngest children enjoy fresh air and natural surroundings in our safe and stimulating outdoor area. From crawling and toddling on the grass to exploring the willow den, the outdoors provides countless opportunities for sensory experiences and physical development.
Natural resources play a central role in our approach. Babies are encouraged to explore textures, sounds, and shapes through carefully chosen materials that engage the senses. Our mud kitchen offers opportunities for messy, creative play, while baskets of natural objects indoors help develop curiosity, fine motor skills and early problem-solving.
Play is at the heart of everything we do. Our practitioners gently support babies as they begin to communicate, develop independence, and form strong attachments. Through songs, stories, sensory play and outdoor adventures, we create the foundations for confidence, resilience and a love of learning.
We know that leaving your baby in nursery care is a big step. That’s why every child is paired with a dedicated key worker who takes time to build a strong, trusting bond with both you and your child. Regular updates, shared observations and open communication mean you’re always involved in your little one’s journey. We work in close partnership with families to ensure babies feel secure, happy and ready to explore.
